Job Introduction:

The incumbent will represent the company in subcontractor pre-bid, pre-construction and in-progress negotiations and is the customer interface on any construction-related meetings or items and any initial permitting contracts.  This person will supervise on-site all phases of construction, installation, and related activities for a particular security project or site.  Manages daily site requirements including supervision of subcontractors, documents all field work conditions and issues developing and maintaining work schedules, updating the project schedule, performing QA/QC of all work efforts and maintaining high safety awareness.  

Role Responsibility:

  • Develops and manages the engineering, permitting, and construction/installation of the required scopes of work, and supervises the team of engineers and/or technicians to accomplish the required activities on schedule.  Gathers information and coordinates all phases of the project construction/ installation.  
  • Prepares and submits permit applications for construction/installation activities.
  • Performs engineering of the route, network, and/or system. 
  • Performs construction/installation cost estimates as necessary.
  • Establish daily system to inspect, control, coordinate, monitor and record that all work and acceptance testing required by contract is performed in compliance with the specific operational contract sections, specifications and drawings.
  • Serves as liaison between project and site personnel for technical support and Engineering Change Proposals.
  • Coordinate all subcontractor and suppliers activities on the site.  Conduct meetings to coordinate and schedule work activities.  Ensure that all tasks are completed in accordance with the Project Schedule.  Conducts site surveys and threat assessments and generates associated reports, drawings, schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Ensure that As-build drawings are correctly prepared for all elements of the work performed by all subcontractors and properly submitted. Assists in the preparation of scopes of work for subcontract bid packages, distribution of bid packages, and review of quotes submitted by subcontractors.
  • Sketches preliminary site drawings to determine constructability of the site or feasibility of the installation.  These sketches are then used to assist the engineering staff in developing construction drawings.
  • Reviews and approves all subcontractor invoices for payment.  Works with the Contracts Manager and Business Manager to accrue subcontract costs.
  • Ensure that all personnel on-site follow the safety requirements of G4S Technology, the customer, and any applicable Federal and State requirements.
  • Understand the policies, procedures, standards, and goals of the G4S Technology organization and direct the exception of all aspects of project start-up, project implementation, progress reporting, and project completion and closeout. 
  • Will report to the Project Superintendent located onsite and will regularly interface with and update the Project Superintendent on the progress and issues of the Project. 
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

A BS degree in engineering, preferably civil, electrical, or construction management and at least three to five years of years of experience in project implementation and/or supervisory field construction with one to two years of security systems integration is desired. Experience must include field engineering management responsibility and/or project oversight responsibility.  Experience in dealing with Department of Defense personnel preferred.    Desirable experience to include implementing projects in conformance with government specifications and plans. 

Experience with managing the quality performance of multiple subcontractors performing different disciplines of work is desired.  Installation and integration experience with security cameras, card readers, security sensors, and security fencing is a plus.  Experience in using Word, Excel, Project and other typical Windows software is required.  An acceptable equivalent of education and years of experience will be considered.  Employees should also be adept in the use of the following or similar systems: Monitor Dynamics Inc., Vindicator Technologies, Software House, Hirsch Electronics, Radionics, Lenel, J-SIIDS, Pelco CCTV, and Philips CCTV.  Past supervisory and force protection experience is a major plus.  Successful candidates must be able to pass drug screening, possess a valid driver’s license, be able to obtain and maintain a valid US passport.  Domestic US and overseas travel will be required.

A U.S. Department of Defense secret level clearance will likely be required by the incumbent if the department or work location deals with security installation work.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction contracts, engineering and construction drawings and specifications, common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and other documents.  Communicates effectively in both oral and written English technical language, both in interpreting requirements and providing reports and mentoring.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit; use hand and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The incumbent is required to walk daily on construction sites in rough terrain, and climb ladders and facilities under construction.  The incumbent is occasionally required to stand for long periods of time.  The incumbent may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. And occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent regularly splits time between work in a semi-quiet construction office environment and on construction sites, where there is moderate to occasional great noise levels.
