Job Introduction:

The incumbent will oversee and complete all the engineering required for the implementation of the project.  The incumbent must understand the policies, procedures, standards, and goals of the company and direct the execution of all aspects of engineering, permitting, construction, and final acceptance with those in mind.

Role Responsibility:

  • Supervises and completes all detailed engineering for projects including technical documents, drawings, scopes of work, and specifications.  Ensures that the engineering complies with the requirements of the prime contract.
  • Interprets building architecture, mechanical and electrical drawings, and makes recommendations for installing equipment and materials in coordination with building management, the owner, and the applicable jurisdictions.
  • Manages the preparation and submittal of contract deliverables such as engineering drawings, final acceptance documentation, and turnover packages.
  • Reviews system design and component compatibility.  Exercises cost analysis procedures and value engineering for components in the project, creating opportunities for cost reduction and margin increases.
  • Attends meetings with clients, subcontractors and vendors for the purpose of providing project status and requirements, establishing guidelines, developing and maintaining schedules, etc.
  • Conducts site surveys and threat assessments, and generates associated reports, drawings, schedules and cost estimates.
  • Oversees and provides technical support of project and field personnel through vendor interface and submission of Engineering Change Proposals.
  • Manages the material requisition process and coordinates with vendors for timely completion of contracts.
  • As necessary, oversees the scheduling and production of the CADD department for the preparation of all drawings required for the project.
  • Evaluates new job prospects through direct customer contact, site evaluations followed by estimates and proposal preparation.
  • Manages and reviews client correspondence including any Requests for Information (RFI) and Request for Change (RFC).
  • Other duties as assigned by supervision.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

BS degree in civil engineering, electrical engineering or related field with five to ten years of experience in electronic security systems and training on multiple vendors’ security equipment.  Experience in dealing with Department of Defense personnel preferred.  Employees should also be familiar in the use of the following or similar systems: AMAG, Software House, Lenel, Pelco CCTV, Object Video, VERINT, and NICE.  An acceptable and equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.  Past supervisory and force protection experience is a major plus.  Successful candidates must be able to pass drug screening, possess a valid driver’s license, be able to obtain and maintain a valid US passport.  Domestic US and overseas travel will be required.

A U.S. Department of Defense secret level clearance will likely be required by the incumbent if the department or work location deals with security installation work.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to produce, read, analyze, and interpret engineering and construction drawings and specifications, common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and other documents.  Communicates effectively in both oral and written English technical language, both in interpreting requirements and providing reports.  Should possess good customer service abilities along with refined grammar skills.  The position may require a lot of interaction with other departments and field employees and should therefore possess good interpersonal skills.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit; use hand and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The incumbent is required to travel to local and remote sites and walk daily on construction sites in rough terrain, and climb ladders and facilities under construction.  The incumbent is occasionally required to stand for long periods of time.  The incumbent may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent regularly splits time between work in a semi-quiet construction office environment and on construction sites, where there is moderate to occasional great noise levels.  Some travel may be required.
