Job Introduction:

GENERAL SUMMARY

G4S Secure Integration is a market-leading systems integrator who brings innovative, flexible and cost-efficient thinking to the design, construction and maintenance of stand-alone or integrated communication networks and security systems.  We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer that will be the primary resource responsible to support the planning, implementation, and successful completion of all installations within the healthcare vertical.

 

 

Role Responsibility:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Acts as the in-house, inter-departmental liaison
  • Ensure submittals, equipment, support, etc. are delivered to project management on schedule, technologically correct, and properly documented and supported
  • Supports each project with the Project Manager to the point of client acceptance and turnover to Customer Support
  • Contribute to the design of the systems and solutions to be sent to the field for installation.
  • Interface with other departments within the organization to ensure that the systems and solutions have been properly configured, thoroughly tested and are ready for delivery and installation. 
  • Provide installation support during the commissioning of these systems until each project has been successfully completed and accepted by the client.
  • Design/engineer complex computer and network-based security solutions by integrating standard and non-standard security and IT components.
  • Responsible to bring a complete, value-engineered system design together with a focus towards functionality, cost, and reliability.
  • Review sales documentation against customer expectations and work with Project Management to establish a plan to meet and/or exceed project goals, timelines, and milestones.
  • Refine the design of the system/solution to be delivered and generate drawings and documentation from system level design to individual device interconnects.
  • Create project drawings and submittals including the layout of the electrical system within the architectural drawling, risers, typicals, etc.
  • Create “as-builts” and compile project closeout documentation as required upon project completion and turn it over to Support. 
  • Help evaluate and contribute to the never ending improvement of our products and our processes utilizing knowledge, experience and feedback. 
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Five years of computer and/or electronics industry experience
  • A B.S. in Computer Systems or Electrical Engineering or an acceptable and equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Expertise with networking, computer systems design, low voltage networks and communications.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of security system hardware and its capability and operation including: PC’s, monitors, networks and networking equipment, CCTV hardware and cameras and other industry standard security solutions.
  • Capable of designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex, highly scalable, highly redundant LAN and WAN network topologies.
  • A solid understanding of routing, switching, firewalls and VPN’s is also required.
  • Candidate must be knowledgeable with communication protocols including: Serial, RF, Fiber Optic, Cellular, Ethernet, etc. 
  • Strong PC Skills including MS Word, Excel, Project, Visio, Outlet, etc. and proficient in the use of CAD software.  
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and identifying their root cause.
  • Must be highly organized and able to work in a dynamic, cutting edge, often high-pressure environment with rapidly changing priorities.
  • Occasional domestic travel may be required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

The successful candidate will be able to read, analyze, and interpret engineering and construction drawings and specifications, common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and other documents.  Have the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written English technical language, both in interpreting requirements and providing reports and mentoring.

REASONING ABILITY

The successful candidate must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  They must also be able to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit; use hand and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The incumbent is required to walk daily on construction sites in rough terrain, and climb ladders and facilities under construction.  The incumbent is occasionally required to stand for long periods of time.  The incumbent may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.  And occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent may split time between a semi-quiet office environment and on a construction site, where there is moderate to occasional high noise levels.

Depending on the assignment up to 40% travel may be required.
