Job Introduction:

The Technical Training Specialist position for AMAG Technology is a Training Dept. position in our office, reporting to our Training & Education Manager.  This position primarily requires teaching regularly scheduled hands-on and special Symmetry™ Product/technical classes in the Burlington location, in addition to conducting special on-site training classes, in other locations on an as needed basis.  Conducting instructor-led Webinars may also be required periodically in addition to classroom training courses.

The Technical Training Specialist will regularly work with applications software, electronic systems, presentation software, websites, training manuals and published technical documentation, drawings, technical product bulletins, specs and datasheets.  Maintaining the Burlington training facility and its training resources will be a required responsibility: general appearance and presentation of the classroom, testing/repairing and maintaining electronic equipment and installing/imaging Windows operating systems on training computers.  The Technical Training Specialist will provide local training projects and plan and conduct travel as needed in conduction of special on-site customer training.  Experience with Symmetry™ products a plus but not required with equivalent qualifications.

Role Responsibility:

  • Supervise and conduct scheduled classes in Burlington, MA
  • Plan travel and conduct on-site customer training classes as needed, ship materials and setup training classes at customer sites and hotel meeting rooms
  • Maintain the Burlington training facility and its equipment resources
  • Provide technical input for and/or assist the Training and Education Manager with curriculum materials development
  • Become a proactive team member, conducting regular daily communications with the Training team
  • Resolve problems and evaluate customer/trainee comments to aid in continual refining of the training product and curriculum
  • Perform other related duties as directed as part of the Training team, working cooperatively and jointly to provide Exceptional Customer Service
  • Work with product managers and others as necessary to gain understanding of technical issues and products
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve effectiveness of training
  • The candidate will also work with members of the Technical Support Department as well as other AMAG Departments on projects as necessary

The Ideal Candidate:


  • This position requires five or more years of experience in the physical security industry relevant to Access Control, Video Surveillance and Management or Intrusion Detection:
    • Five or more years of security systems field experience designing, installing and servicing security systems.
    • Five or more years of experience working with software products utilizing Microsoft SQL Server (or equivalent relational database systems).
  • Three or more years of classroom instructional experience in a technical training environment teaching integrated Low Voltage Electronics, Software Systems, Windows Operating Systems and/or IP Networking (or equivalent time in teaching/public speaking experience).
  • Fed/Gov or DoD security industry knowledge and experience a plus.


  • Organized Professional – Able to professionally interact with resellers, end users and associates professionally.
  • Motivated Self-starter - Able to autonomously prepare for, manage and conduct training classes without supervision: plan and execute projects independently.
  • Excellent Time Manager - Able to complete projects on time in an urgent manner.  This includes professional follow-through along with attention to detail.
  • Excellent Communicator - Above average written and verbal public-speaking/communication skills: ability to articulate and explain technical principles in the classroom a must.
  • Application Software Skills – In addition to security systems, is able to work proficiently with Microsoft Office or other products in the production of documentation and curriculum materials.
  • Ability to work well on a team.
  • Willingness and Desire to Learn – Able to rapidly learn new technologies or principles.
  • Ability to be Independent and Organized – Work outside of the office as needed: willingness and ability to travel a must.
  • Conduct Duties in a Professional Manner – Exhibit professionalism at all times as a representative of AMAG Technology. 


The ideal candidate should hold a minimum 2-year Associate Degree in Electronics, Software Systems or Information Technology, or similar field of study (Bachelor’s Degree preferred).  Also required is a minimum certification as a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) (higher levels preferred).
